The goblin shark lives in the deep dark, about 4000 ft under the surface. Their jaw can extend 3 inches out of their mouth! They mainly eat squid and small fish. They can grow up to 12 feet long and weigh up to 460 pounds. They have fang-like teeth that lock into their prey when hunting. They are mostly spotted off the coast of Japan in the Pacific Ocean. Goblin sharks have eggs instead of live births, but they're not the kind of eggs you would think! They are squishy and have a little dot in the middle. When they hatch, they are on their own. There is no mom to feed, protect or nurture them. Six sharks are born at once and then they go their separate ways. Their eyes are basically useless, so they use their sense of smell to find their food. They also rely on their electric fields to find food and feel around their surroundings. A blue shark is the top predator for this species. Goblin sharks can live up to 60 years and when they die, they sink to the bottom of the ocean. These are all the facts that I know about goblin sharks.
